What Is National Bingo Week?
Formerly National Bingo Day and now in its sixth year, National Bingo Week is the bigger and better evolution – a celebration of all things bingo!
This tradition started in the UK in 2021 and is the perfect reason for the entire bingo industry, from land-based bingo halls to online bingo sites large and small, to come together to share in the joy of our favourite game.
The event is spearheaded by The Bingo Association, which is the trade association for all licensed bingo operators in Great Britain. The association represents the entire bingo industry, and National Bingo Week forms part of its efforts to promote and develop the interests of all GB licensed bingo operators. The National Bingo Game which is affiliated through many different high street bingo brands is also a massive supporter of National Bingo Week, offering enhanced prizes.

The History of National Bingo Week
National Bingo Week originally began as National Bingo Day back in 2021. Celebrations have included Gemma Collins, £100,000 prizes, MPs visiting their local clubs, charity games for Variety, and much more.
national bingo Week 2025
Special games and exclusive National Bingo tournaments were held, along with giveaways and bonus offers both online and in land-based bingo halls.
In 2025 Buzz Bingo put up a £100,000 prize in its Big Money Live. We’ll be hoping to see the return of that big prize in 2026.

National Bingo Week 2024
While the celebrations for National Bingo Day have been successful, in 2024 the decision was made to spread them across a whole week.
- Mystery Celebrity Caller visited a lucky bingo club in Stratford. Reality star Gemma Collins had a whale of a time and ensured everyone in the club she visited had loads of fun.
- The National Bingo Games had prizes of £50,000 to be won.
- 23 MPs visited their local clubs to help out and the charity games for Variety – The Childrens Charity raised more huge sums bringing the total to over £2million raised in recent years.
“We were delighted to celebrate National Bingo Week this year culminating in National Bingo Day again, with special games and prizes bringing all our bingo community together, we were also delighted to raise money yet again for our charity of choice Variety – the Children’s Charity. I would like to thank all our members for their support and helping once again to raise much needed funds for our charity of choice,” Bingo Association Chief Executive Miles Baron said.
The National Bingo Game
National Bingo Day previously featured large-scale versions of the National Bingo Game in halls around the country, with special offers on food and drink as well as games that featured winners, lots of cash prizes, brilliant bonuses and great giveaways.
Mystery Celebrity Caller – Gemma Collins
In the week leading up to National Bingo Day 2024 a mystery celebrity bingo caller was announced. And who better to promote the joy of National Bingo Day than the effervescent Gemma Collins?
The GC wasted no time in hitting social media as soon as she was allowed to let the secret out.
“There’s a job for Gemma any day at our clubs. Like Gemma, our bingo callers are shining lights who take to the stage every day and night, up and down the country, to make the game so special. For National Bingo Week, we encourage everyone to experience the fun and good times that can be had at bingo – you never know who you might meet and what you might win!” Bingo Association Chief Executive Miles Baron said.
National Bingo Day 2021 – 2023
The response to the first UK National Bingo Day in 2021 was tremendous, with 222 online bingo sites participating, across platforms including Dragonfish, Playtech and Pragmatic Play.
The event gained more momentum in 2022, with more big brands getting involved both online and offline.
2023 dropped off a little, but feedback to the Bingo Association showed that one day was not enough to cram everything in – hence National Bingo Week for 2024.
Some of the biggest and most recognisable bingo brands regularly get on board, with Buzz Bingo, Gala Bingo, JackpotJoy, LeoVegas, PaddyPower, Mecca Bingo and Sky Bingo all supporting the event.
Online bingo operators report positive feedback from the events the held, with uplifts of up to 18 per cent in the number of players visiting their sites.
The 27th of June 2021 fell on a Sunday, which is ordinarily a quiet day for bingo operators, but many reported it was their strongest performing day of that particular week. In 2022 it was a Monday and again this special bingo day helped to boost numbers on a traditionally quiet day.
We can’t wait to see what National Bingo Day 2026 delivers!

Unusual National Bingo Day Events
On National Bingo Day 2023, Northern Rail got in on the action in an unexpected twist. The second largest train operator in the UK published a light-hearted and fun Fare Dodger Bingo card to play train bingo to celebrate the occasion.
The fare dodger bingo card was a tribute to all of the excuses it has received as to why passengers do not have a ticket to travel. Some of the most popular excuses include ticket machines not working, mystery benefactors who will apparently pay later, lost purses, pretending to be asleep and claims of mobiles running out of charge with the ticket on them.
The head of Northern Rail’s retail operations joked that his colleagues have heard every excuse under the sun and that they are all sure to call a full house in no time at all.
Bingo bringing people together
There’s something rather lovely about bingo, isn’t there? It brings people together in a way that few other pastimes manage, whether you’re tucked up at home with a cuppa or out for a proper night with friends.
Online bingo communities are a big part of that magic. The chat rooms buzz with friendly hosts and regulars who’ll happily welcome newcomers into the fold, and many sites let you join the conversation without depositing a penny.
WhichBingo have been there through thick and thin as the UK’s trusted bingo experts, guiding players through every twist the industry has thrown up over the years. From new site launches to changes in how the game is played, we’ve kept a friendly eye on it all.
And what better way to celebrate the game we love than with its very own dedicated occasion: National Bingo Week.
National Bingo Week FAQ
When is National Bingo Week?
National Bingo Week runs from Monday 22nd to Sunday 28th June and is celebrated with special bingo events across the UK.
What are the hopes and aims of National Bingo Week?
When it was still National Bingo Day, the hope was that June 27th would become as famous as March 17th is as St Patrick’s Day! Now that the fun lasts seven day, everyone involved wants National Bingo Week to become recognised as a celebration of the great game that is bingo.
Which online bingo sites are taking part in National Bingo Week?
Many big names like Mecca Bingo and Buzz Bingo and many Dragonfish sites have been part of previous National Bingo Days and it is hoped that with the help of WhichBingo dozens more will get involved in National Bingo Week.
How is National Bingo Day celebrated in America?
Very much in the same way as we celebrate here. Operators offer special events and encourage people to play bingo. The real aim is to go bigger and better and really get everyone involved because the US version is a bit disjointed and events are pretty much on an ‘everyone for themselves’ basis with no coming together.
Are there any National Bingo Week bonus offers?
Yes, there usually are. WhichBingo features a range of exclusive offers from major bingo sites. Many brands have embraced the idea of the event celebrating bingo and will be running special bingo games and giveaways across the whole week leading or are offering special welcome bonuses. The intention is to have as many people as possible get into the spirit and join in the fun.
Where did National Bingo Day come from?
The idea for National Bingo Day UK came from the U.S., where an annual day has been dedicated to bingo for a number of years.
The Bingo Association, prompted by a suggestion from Mecca Bingo, decided a similar event in the UK would provide an opportunity for players to celebrate the game they love and give non-players encouragement to try bingo.
The 27th of June 2021 was selected for the first UK National Bingo Day, ensuring the celebration would take place at the same time as its US counterpart and the date will remain as the 27th June moving forward.
